Inverness teen sentenced after caught being drug-driving on New Year's Day

Police stopped a teenage driver in the early hours of New Year's Day this year and detected a strong smell of cannabis coming from the cab.

A test proved positive for the drug and 19-year-old Liam Mackenzie, of Lochiel Gardens, Inverness was charged with drug-driving along Carnarc Crescent, Inverness.

He pleaded guilty at Inverness Sheriff Court to the offence, having 9.1mcgs of the drug in his system when the legal driving limit is 2mcgs.

Mackenzie was fined £640 and banned from driving for a year.
