Susan and Sam Hey of Team Hamish have been recognised in the Queen's birthday honours.

The couple set up the charity, along with daughter Lily, and have received the British Empire Medal. Sadly, Mrs Hey's BEM has been awarded posthumously.

The Team Hamish charity was established to raise funds for cancer groups and to create a new splash park on the waterfront of their home town of Nairn in honour of the couple's son Hamish, who died aged eight in 2017 after a battle with cancer.

Mrs Hey died of cancer in May this year.

Mr and Mrs Hey were recognised for services to cancer research and charity.

Mr Hey stated: "It is such an honour to receive this award.

"I am so proud of what we have been able to achieve over the last three years, none of which would have been possible without your support, the community coming together and believing in our vision.

"But, I am also saddened that Susan is not here with me to be able to share this accolade for a cause that was so personal and important to her."
