An Inverness teacher is hosting weekly quizzes online to help create a sense of community during the coronavirus lockdown.

Mike Ross, who usually teaches at Holm Primary, holds his next event tonight from 6pm.

He got the idea after talking with local families and realised they had lost the sense of community that school brought.

"I thought that something weekly to look forward to would help make that easier and bring everyone together," he said.

The reaction so far had been fantastic, he added.

"We have seen an increase in teams taking part and families from other schools in Highland have joined in too.

"Families have sent in pictures and videos for questions and to show the fun they are having with the quiz. There has been a lot of laughter.

"I think that everyone will find adjusting to this situation difficult.

"Having something that the community can all jointly participate in can really boost morale and get people talking together.

"It gives us something to look forward to and presents the opportunity for families to get together and have some fun.

"We would love to see more families enjoying the quiz so please come join us each Thursday at 6pm.

"I want to say a huge thank you to the wonderful families for their participation and to the families and staff for their brilliant support."

The questions are posted on the @MrRoss_Primary Twitter account.
