Taxi wars between Inverness drivers and Highland Council to step up a gear

A WAR of words between Inverness taxi drivers and Highland Council looks set to shift up a gear as efforts to solve their differences together appear to have stalled.

The drivers are at loggerheads with the local authority on a number of issues, the main one being the loss of city centre taxi stances that they claim are not being replaced.

Chairman of the Inverness Taxi Alliance, Andrew MacDonald, said it had complained to the public service ombudsman last year about the council’s handling of grievances it raised, but had been told to go back and attempt to resolve their differences in the first instance.

He said this week that moves on that front had failed to find a way forward.
