An Inverness taxi firm wants to make women feel safe while out and about in the city, and when making their way home.

Inverness Taxis, which has its offices in Church Street, is aiming to provide a safe place for anyone who feels vulnerable.

It comes as the safety of women is in the spotlight following the deaths of Sarah Everard and Sabina Nessa south of the border.

Inverness Taxis owner Gavin Johnston said: “We want everyone to feel safe when they are out and about in the city, and especially at night.

“There will be times where people will need to wait for taxis, so we want any woman who needs to sit in a safe place to come to the offices.

“If the office is closed, let us know you are outside and we will have a space for you to sit and wait.

“No one should feel frightened and we want women to know that there is a space for them.”
