Organisers of Belladrum music festival near Inverness are in discussions to avoid postponing or cancelling the annual event.

But they admit that the coronavirus situation makes it ever more unlikely that the event will go ahead on July 30 to August 1.

A spokesman said: "We are currently in ongoing discussions with a wide range of agencies including Highland Council and Police Scotland as well as following advice and guidance from both the Scottish and UK governemnts and the World Health Organisation.

"We are hoping to have an update in the not too distant future.

"In the event that Belladrum 2020 is cancelled, which is looking more likely as time progresses, ticket holders will be able to roll their tickets over to the 2021 event. Any payment plan customers will have the option to freeze their payment plans and carry them over to 2021.

"If customers are no longer able to attend the festival next year, they will be offered a refund."

It comes after organisers of the Skipinnish gig in Inverness this summer postponed their event until next year.
