Strike threat to Highland airports
AIR traffic controllers working for Highlands and Islands Airport Limited (Hial) are set to hold a one-day strike over pay next month.
The action will impact operations at Inverness Airport as well as in Dundee, Wick, Kirkwall, Sumburgh, Stornoway and Benbecula on April 26.
It comes despite Hial bosses will meet representatives of the Prospect union yesterday in a bid to find solutions. More talks are due next week.
Members of Prospect have also declared their intentions to take action short of a strike between April 1 and August 31, in a continuing disagreement over their pay offer for 2018-19.
This will include instruction to work to rosters; an overtime ban; and withdrawal of goodwill, though Prospect says it will seek to agree a protocol with Hial to ensure cover for emergency incidents.
