TOP scorers of Strictly Inverness Debbie Campbell and Michael Murray are still on a high after their performance on Saturday.

The pair wowed with an upbeat performance which included several impressive lifts and a more emotional dance to Rewrite the Stars.

Michael (31) is a firearms instructor the Royal Navy.

He decided to take part as he has been a big fan of Strictly for a long time and wanted to challenge himself.

The pair scored 59/60, with one dance receiving three 10's.

Michael said that training was hard at the beginning, but he soon settled into it.

" I was properly shocked when we came second. The scores and Flavia's comments made the whole experience for me. I feel like we absolutely smashed it.

"I didn't know what to expect of the Strictly week. I do not get nervous about anything but on Thursday I was a bit of a mess. The crowd on Saturday got you going so it was just a really surreal experience."

He said the best part was the lifelong friends he made and they will be making the event an annual fixture in their social calendar.

Debbie is a therapy support worker at the Highland Hospice.

The 42-year-old wanted to take part to honour her mum who was a huge fan of Strictly.

She passed away five years ago in the Hospice's care, so the opportunity seemed right for Debbie.

The pair raised more than £9000 together.

Debbie added: "“I was absolutely delighted that we came second. I never thought I’d make the final. I’m so proud of myself and Michael.

“I really didn’t enjoy the Thursday, nerves kicked in really bad and so I didn’t think we would make the final. "When we made the final I just went in there and had a good time and had a laugh and a giggle. It was fun and exciting.”
