SIX weeks of streetscape remedial works begin in Inverness tomorrow.

Contractor M.M Miller has been appointed to resurface an area of defective slabs outside Marks and Spencer, High Street.

A drainage channel in Baron Taylor’s Street, between Lombard Street and Church Street, also needs to be reset. This work will start on Monday 20th February and will require closure of part of Baron Taylor's Street for two weeks.

Pedestrian access will be maintained at all times.

A council spokesman said the work had been planned to avoid the main tourist season and every effort would be made to minimise disruption to local businesses and residents.

Additional contractors will also carry out separate work including repairs to carriageway surfacing, street signs, and painting and other enhancements to street furniture.
