Diners at an Inverness restaurant had a surprise visitor among their midst.

Actor Ford Kiernan - who plays Jack Jarvis in the popular Scottish sitcom, Still Game - called in at Hou Hou Mei in Tomnahurich Street.

The restaurant, which promotes itself as delivering a modern take on traditional Asian cuisine, posted a photograph of staff with the actor on social media.

““He who hingeth aboot getteth heehaw,” the post stated.

“We had a surprise visitor last night! The one, the only… Ford Kiernan.

“Thank you for popping in for a wee scran!”

Ford Kiernan created Still Game along with fellow actor Greg Hemphill who plays Victor McDade.

First aired on BBC One Scotland in September 2002, it follows the lives of a group of pensioners who live in Craiglang, a fictional area of Glasgow.
