FIREFIGHTERS in Invergordon have urged members of the public to avoid the area of a "well developed" school blaze.

Invergordon Fire Station made the appeal in the wake of a fire at Park Primary in the town's Albany Road.

It used its Twitter feed to state: "Fire crews are at a well developed fire at Park Primary School in Invergordon, please avoid the area to allow for fire appliances to gain access."

Highland Council said all staff and pupils have been accounted for.

Five fire crews were sent after the alarm was raised at 10am when flames and a black cloud of smoke were spotted coming from the building.

Parents have been advised by Highland Council to collect their children from Invergordon Academy.

It is not yet known of the extent of the damage to the school.

More to follow.
