Stagecoach ‘working hard to improve service delivery’

We appreciate Mr Kalisperatis taking the time to share his experiences and we’re genuinely sorry to hear he believes his journeys have fallen short of the standard we aim to deliver.

We completely understand Mr Kalisperatis’ frustration, particularly when reliable public transport is so essential to daily life.

But it’s worth noting that Inverness, with a population of around 83,000, operates on a very different scale to larger cities like Dundee or Glasgow. This naturally presents different challenges when it comes to network size, frequency and infrastructure.

It’s also worth highlighting that cities like Glasgow and Dundee benefit from far more developed bus infrastructures: extensive bus priority lanes, ULEZ zones and high parking charges, which actively encourage the use of public transport.

In contrast, Inverness currently has very limited bus priority measures and inexpensive city centre parking, which makes it a very different environment to operate in. These factors inevitably affect service performance and passenger behaviour in ways that can’t be directly compared.

That said, we fully recognise the vital role our services play in helping people get to work, appointments, shops and activities and we do care deeply about getting it right.

Our customers are at the heart of everything we do and we are committed to delivering a reliable, accessible and responsive service for communities across Inverness and the Highlands.

We’re also human and sometimes things don’t go as planned. Sometimes issues are also outside of our control. When that happens, we absolutely understand how disruptive it can be. We are working hard to improve service delivery, address operational issues and provide better information to passengers.

I would be very happy to meet with Mr Kalisperatis directly to explain the work already under way to improve and maintain local services and how we plan to keep moving things forward.

We remain committed to listening, learning and improving wherever we can.

Our teams work hard every day to deliver the best possible service and we welcome ongoing dialogue with all our customers to help shape a service that meets the needs of the communities we serve.
