REGENERATING the Caledonian pine forest will be the subject of a talk in Inverness tomorrow.

Thomas MacDonell will be the main speaker at the Saltire Society’s latest event at the Craigmonie Hotel at 2pm.

Mr MacDonell is director of conservation and forestry with Wildland Ltd in Glenfeshie.

In recent decades there has been a focus on restoring the Caledonian pine forest, the natural vegetation of much of the Highlands, to more of its former range, with the planting of such key species as Scots pine, aspen and birch.

The Caledonian forest supports a unique assemblage of plants and animals.

Non-members of the Saltire Society will be charged for entry.
