A small fire at a popular riverside pub in Inverness has caused the business to close today.

The incident took place at The Waterfront on Huntly Street just before 7am this morning, with two appliances sent to the scene — according to firefighters, no one was injured.

The restaurant posted on its Facebook page earlier today to alert of the temporary closure, however it is yet unknown when they will reopen.

A Scottish Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: "We were alerted at 6.48am on Wednesday, 7 May to reports of a fire within a commercial premises in Inverness.

"Operations Control mobilised two appliances to the city's Huntly Street, where firefighters extinguished the fire and worked to make the area safe before leaving the scene.

"There were no casualties."

The Waterfront has been contacted for comment.
