Scottish sensations Skerryvore are to return for a large gig in Inverness this December following the massive success of their Highland capital show last year.

LCC Live, organisers of Live in the City, kicked off last year’s Christmas concert series with the celtic-rock group, and they’ll be making their return to the Inverness Leisure Centre on Friday, December 6 for another energetic concert filled with all of their iconic hits!

Skerryvore has been on a momentous journey since the group was founded in 2005 on Tiree, from their early days in Scottish west coast halls and bars, to festival crowds in the USA, Canada, Australia and throughout the UK and Europe.

The three-time winners of Scotland’s ‘Live Act of the Year' award have had an eventful time recently, following their latest album release in 2023 which went to number one in both the Official Scottish Album and UK Folk Albums charts, and entered the top 40 in the Official UK Charts. Three singles from the album, named ‘Tempus’, all featured on the BBC Radio 2 new music playlist.

With a mix of bagpipes, fiddles, accordions, and whistles, alongside guitar and vocals, underpinned by driving bass, drums and keys, Skerryvore represent the best in contemporary Scottish traditional music. Their most popular hit 'Take My Hand’ is a fan favourite with many, along with tunes ‘You & I' and ‘Live Forever’.

The group will be joined by a special guest on the night of their Inverness Leisure Centre concert.

Claire Kidger of LCC Live commented: “The crowd at Inverness Leisure last year gave such a warm welcome to Skerryvore, we couldn’t think of anyone better than to kick start our Christmas concert series again! If it’s anything like previous, this will be a night filled with lots of dancing and singing along - it was a spectacular show and we’re already anticipating a high demand for tickets!”

Skerryvore themselves are looking forward to the show too, with Martin Gillespie from the band saying: “We love Inverness! Last year’s gig in the Leisure Centre was one of the highlights of our year and such an incredible party atmosphere. We can’t wait to return to our Highland home this December to do it all again!”

Tickets for Skerryvore go on sale next Friday (June 28) from ticketline.co.uk or in person from Caffery’s Menswear in the Eastgate Shopping Centre, Inverness.
