Culloden Battlefield is set to reopen its grounds to visitors from next week.

The tourist attraction is one of three National Trust for Scotland (NTS) sites in the Highlands set to reopen for the first time since lockdown was imposed.

It will open on Monday along with Brodie Castle in Forres, while the gardens at Inverewe in Wester Ross are due to reopen on July 15.

NTS chairman Sir Mark Jones said: “As we all adapt to the ‘new normal’, there will be some changes on the ground at properties, and we hope that our members, supporters and visitors will be patient and work with us during this time of transition.

“We would also please ask visitors to stick to the latest guidance.”

The trust is advising people to avoid visiting at peak times and to double check opening times online, in advance of travel.
