Silverware galore for Inverness piper Angus MacPhee at Royal National Mòd in Oban





An Inverness piper hit the right note at a prestigious Gaelic cultural celebration taking home a number of accolades.

Angus MacPhee, winner of boththe James R Johnston Memorial Trophy in the Bagpipes Premier and A Grade Players Ceòl Mòr and The Argyllshire Gathering Quaich in the Bagpipes B Grader Players Ceòl Bear competition, with both his trophies at the Royal National Mòd, Oban 2024.

With the Royal National Mòd in full flow in Oban this week, Angus MacPhee won the Pìobaireachd Premier and A Grade competition, and scored another win in the March, Strathspey and Reel competition B Grade competition.

Last month, he was also crowned as the champion piper at the North of Scotland’s Highland Games.

Coming back to its spiritual birthplace, the Mòd will be running in Oban until Saturday, October 19.

The event brings fans of Gaelic music and culture together to celebrate the language, history and future of the Gaels, with a packed programme of cultural activities, competitions, concerts, workshops and more.
