Highland Council approves signs as Inverness Castle Experience works towards 2025 opening
New signs are to be erected in and around Inverness Castle’s grounds as part of wider efforts to turn it into a major tourist visitor attraction.
The new signs will help guide and advise visitors to the Inverness Castle Experience when it opens its doors.
No date has yet been confirmed for the castle’s opening, with earlier suggestions of “summer 2025” coming and going.
But the application continues recent moves to seek approval for finishing touches to the site - which included controversial plans for new railings encircling the grounds that were given the green light last week despite local pushback.
The new signs feature the Inverness Castle Experience’s logo and branding, as well as Gaelic and English names and directions for visitors to the site. The signs will be a mix of wall, free-standing, and signpost styles.
No objections were received over the new signs, although the council’s historic environment team had called for conditions to ensure signs attached to the castle’s walls be added without drilling any holes into the A-listed structure.
The new signs were approved by council officers under delegated powers, with the recommended conditions attached.
