Mcleish confirmed to Sheriff Gary Aitken that he pleaded guilty to the charge of stealing from The Food Warehouse in Telford Street on February 29 but no other details were given by fiscal depute Victoria Silver as the sheriff immediately deferred sentence.

McLeish also admitted failing to appear for a previous court hearing in January.

Defence solicitor Marc Dickson told the court that his client was currently on a community payback order and a criminal justice social work report would be required before sentencing.

McLeish will return for sentence on April 10 and was released on bail.
