The 60-bed Kingsmills Care Home is one of more than 300 owned by Four Seasons Health Care.

Administrators were called in on Tuesday by the firm which has struggled to repay its debts.

Pat Hayden, chairwoman of Crown and City Centre Community Council, said: “I only heard about this at our meeting on Tuesday night and was really quite shocked.

“We were all devastated.

“I think it is a really serious situation, and must be worrying for residents and their families.

“They think they are settled and don’t want any disruption so late in life.”
