Site manager George Johnstone is back on familiar ground with Tulloch Homes’ new Kirkhill development.

Having worked as a joiner at Black Isle View, the company’s previous Kirkhill development which sold out eight years ago, he is back in the village in his first site manager role.

Mr Johnstone oversees a team of 22 people working on the £22 million Highland View development of 70 homes.

The first six homes will be completed by the end of next month, with four of the houses already reserved.

“We’re very pleased at the progress being made with the drainage and infrastructure well advanced and the first six homes under construction,” he said.

“It’s good to see homes being bought off plan here – and certainly there will be spectacular views over the firth for occupants in the first phase of 10 homes which we aim to complete in November.

“I took over as site manager in the latter stages of our Broomhill, Muir of Ord, development and saw it to completion – but it’s very satisfying to start this one from scratch and put to work my 25 years’ experience with Tulloch.

“We’ve got a good team here to roll out the phases over the next couple of years. No fewer than 52 of the homes will be bungalows, a fairly unique and attractive feature. The location is appealing at a time when the pandemic is influencing more people to fancy living in the countryside.”

He added: “The woodland walks and cycle routes close to Highland View will be extremely attractive to homebuyers.”

A shinty man, he played for his home town of Inverness for 20 years and then coached Dalneigh Primary School shinty team.

Research shows that the development, located seven miles from Inverness, meets the aspirations of those who want an “in the country” ambience while not too far from the city.

Jo McLaren, sales and marketing director of Tulloch Homes, said: “Since the pandemic, people are still looking for extra space around their homes, which we’re able to provide at Kirkhill.

“Rural living has not been so popular for decades and Kirkhill will cater for the market which doesn’t want to live too close to Inverness, but wants all the city services to be within easy reach.”
