Inverness Sheriff Court heard details of the case.

A man previously convicted of child pornography offences has been sent back to prison after police found him in possession of more indecent images.

Iain MacIntyre of Mansfield Estate, Tain was jailed nine years ago when he was found in possession of 170,234 still images and nearly 1000 videos from computer equipment by the then Northern Constabulary.

At the time he lived at an address in Diriebught Road, Inverness.

The 47-year-old was being monitored by police following his release and his latest offending took place between April 2018 and February 2019 at his address in Tain.

Inverness Sheriff Court heard police had attended at his home address as part of routine monitoring and risk management.

Depute fiscal Karen Aitken said: "The accused was asked if his internet-enabled devices could be examined as part of the risk assessment process.

"On viewing his mobile phone officers observed a number of concerning search terms within the Google internet history, although no indecent images were recovered at the time.

"On viewing his laptop it was noted that there was explicit material present, although nothing that was obviously illegal."

Mrs Aitken said as a result of this information, however, a warrant was obtained and the laptop seized for analysis.

This later revealed a number of indecent images featuring different girls in various poses and states of undress.

"Some of the girls appeared to be as young as eight," she said.

Sheriff Margaret Neilson heard previously that MacIntyre had mental health issues and sentence was deferred until yesterday for reports.

Solicitor Natalie Paterson said it was inevitable custody was likely given his record.

She said the latest offending took place following the death of both of MacIntyre's parents and she asked any jail term to be backdated to February 14, when he was remanded.

Sheriff Neilson jailed MacIntyre for 18 months.
