A sex offender who failed to notify the police of where he would be staying on his release from remand while he was awaiting a court appearance has been fined £520.

David Geddes, of Hawthorn Drive, Inverness, appeared at Inverness Sheriff Court and admitted a breach of notification requirements by not telling the police the information when he was liberated.

His solicitor advocate Clare Russell explained: "It was a technical breach as he was returning to the same address where he has stayed all of his 40 years."

When charged, Geddes told police he had forgotten because he was so happy to be released.

Sheriff Bobby Frazer reminded Geddes that it was his responsibility to adhere to all the rules.
