Inverness detectives seek help after serious assault of a 72-year-old man





Detectives are appealing for information after a 72-year-old man suffered a serious assault in Inverness.

The incident took place between 4pm and 5pm on Wednesday within a wooded area of footpath, which leads from the junction of Carnarc Crescent and Kessock Avenue to the nearby railway crossing within the Merkinch Nature Reserve.

The male suspect is described as white, 35-40 years-old, around 5ft 8ins and of stocky build, with short brown hair. He was wearing dark clothing, spoke with a local accent and was with a medium-sized dog.

Detective Constable Gary Hines said: “The injured man managed to make his way to Raigmore Hospital for treatment. He has since been discharged.
