Sentence deferred for Inverness phone scammers

Two Inverness women who operated a fraudulent scheme across the Highlands pretending to have mobile phones for sale have to save up to repay the money they obtained.

Jade Vint (21), of Oldtown Road, and Cherise Dunning (19), of Inverness High Street, did not appear at Inverness Sheriff Court to plead guilty to two charges each of fraud, committed between March 17 and March 23.

The court heard they were in self-isolation.

The pair advertised iPhone 7s for sale on a Facebook site and received a total of £575 from people living in Inverness, Roy Bridge, Forres and Findochty.

Fiscal depute Robert Weir said the people transferred monies into their accounts but did not receive the goods.

Sentence was deferred until October 1 for the personal appearance of both women and to save funds to reimburse their victims.
