UPDATE: One-vehicle crash closes A9 southbound in Inverness

A section of the A9 in Inverness is closed due to a police incident.

It is understood there is crash investigation work taking place.

Traffic Scotland says: “The A9 is closed to all southbound traffic, between Longman Roundabout and Raigmore Interchange, due to a police incident.

“Road users are advised to approach with caution and expect longer than normal journey times.”

The above statement has since changed to: “The A9 is closed to all southbound traffic at Raigmore Interchange due to a road traffic incident. Motorists are advised to use an alternative route and allow extra time for their journey.”

Police were seen in the area.

The incident was first reported by Traffic Scotland at 2.20am today.

In an update on X, it stated: “Motorists are advised to use an alternate route at this time.”

The road closure appears to also include the slip road off Culloden Road onto the A9.

It is unclear what has happened.

Police have been asked for comment.
