Secondary pupil in Inverness tests positive with a lateral flow test - pupils and parents have been told to self isolate for 10 days

Parents and guardians of pupils at Inverness High School have been warned of a potential Covid case in the school.
Dr Jenny Wares, NHS Highland consultant in public health medicine (health protection), has written to the whole school informing them of a pupil who tested positive with a lateral flow test, who is now being tested under the standard PCR test.
She said that all necessary action had been taken at the school, and all parents had been informed.
In her letter Dr Wares said: "We have identified a positive lateral flow device (LFD) test result for a pupil at the school. In line with the national guidance, we have commenced contact tracing whilst a further test result from PCR testing is awaited. We know that you may find this concerning but we are working in close partnership with Mr Rutter to manage this situation. The affected individual was last in school on Friday April 30.
"Pupils who have been identified as close contacts have been identified and at this stage will be self-isolating at home for 10 days."
She continued: "As long as your child is well, and as long as other members of the household have no symptoms and are well, then everyone in the house can all go about their normal business.
"Hopefully this will not happen but if your child, or any of your household, develops symptoms a test should be booked as soon as possible. Anyone with symptoms will be eligible for testing and further information on testing can be found on NHS Inform.
"The whole household should isolate if anyone in the household develops symptoms.
"If a positive case is confirmed in a house, then all other household members who remain well must stay at home and not leave the house for 10 days. If there are any positive cases in your household, contact will be made by the NHS Highland’s Contact Tracing Team. "
Dr Wares reminded people the symptoms of Covid.
• new continuous cough and/or
• high temperature
• a loss of, or change in, normal sense of taste or smell (anosmia)
She added: "Please be reassured that for most people, especially for children, coronavirus (Covid–19) will be a mild illness.
