A number of Highland lifeboats, a coastguard rescue team and a rescue helicopter were called out after concerns were raised for the safety of a kayaker.

The alarm was raised just after 10pm yesterday and lifeboats from Loch Ness, Inverness and Nairn were sent to search an area of Loch Ness.

Coastguard rescue teams from Fort William as well as the HM Coastguard search and rescue helicopter from Inverness were also involved in the search.

A spokesman from HM Coastguard said: "The area was searched with the kayaker found safe and well."
