Scottish Water will be carrying out emergency sewer repairs this evening on the corner of Strothers Lane and Academy Street in Inverness.

Strothers Lane will be closed between the bus station and Academy Street from 7pm to allow the work to take place safely.

A Scottish Water spokesman said: "Arrangements will be in place to maintain safe pedestrian access and the road will be re-opened as soon as possible following temporary reinstatement of the excavation.

"Permanent reinstatement will be scheduled for a later date in consultation with Highland Council.

"We would like to thank customers and road users for their patience and understanding while this essential repair work is completed. The work has been scheduled for this evening to keep disruption for businesses to a minimum, but we would like to apologise for any inconvenience caused."
