Scottish Water apologises after up to 5000 properties lose water supply in Inverness

Scottish Water has apologised after the water supply to up to 5000 properties in the Inverness was disrupted yesterday.

It stated last night that repairs to the network serving the IV2 and IV3 postcode areas had been completed.

The loss of water was due to an issue with one of its main valves on its strategic water main located opposite Inverness Royal Academy.

It stated that emergency repairs to the equipment to restore normal supply were carried out as quickly as possible.

A Scottish Water spokeswoman said: “We have had emergency teams on site since we became aware of the equipment failure this morning and they worked as quickly as possible to get our customers back in supply.

“There were issues with the same valves yesterday (Saturday) which led to a short-term loss of water for some of our customers and we had hoped to have resolved the issue.

“Unfortunately, the valves experienced issues again today and we addressed this by undertaking major refurbishment work.

“The majority of our customers are now coming back into supply. Some at the higher locations on our network may still experience low pressure/no water/discoloured water until our system has completely recharged.

“We know the inconvenience this causes and apologise to our customers for their loss of drinking water and want to thank them for their patience and understanding.”
