There will be a march in support of Scottish independence later this month in Inverness city centre.

The March For Freedom will set off from Walker Park at 1pm on Saturday, January 25.

It will then travel along Kingsmills Road, Stephen's Brae, Eastgate, High Street, Bridge Street, Ness Bridge, Ness Walk, Bishop's Road, Ness Walk and Bught Road, before finishing in the Fishermen's Car Park.

Organisers are urging supporters to invite their friends, family, neighbours and acquaintances, and have stressed it will be a peaceful march, with children welcome.

Eilidh McKenzie, of Inverness, took to Twitter to promote the event.

She said: "March with us. Let's show everyone that the Highlands are ready for independence. Spread the word, let's make it huge."

Previous independence-themed marches in Inverness have attracted large turnouts as well as some opposition.
