School closures and rail disruption as snow warning continues
MORE than 10 local schools and nurseries are closed this morning as the yellow alert for snow in the area continues.
Rail and road users are also experiencing disruption in the treacherous conditions.
Locally primary schools in Beauly, Cromarty, Cannich, Daviot, Farr, Foyers, Milton of Leys, Strathdearn and Stratherrick are all closed. The Drummond School in Inverness is also closed, and the nursery at Lochardil Primary School is also being affected.
Charleston Academy, meanwhile, will open an hour late because of the bad conditions.
In total almost 90 schools and nurseries in the Highland Council area are closed so far this morning.

Elsewhere, passengers on the Inverness to Kyle of Lochalsh line are being warned that there will be no services between Dingwall and Kyle from 6pm today until 6pm on Thursday. The cancellation of these services was originally slated for midday, but has been pushed back by six hours until this evening.
A Scotrail spokesman said: "This is to allow Network Rail to check the lines. Where conditions permit, we will run buses to replace trains on these routes. However, road authorities warn driving will be difficult, so please consider whether your journey is necessary.
"Please bear in mind that, while you may be able to travel normally in the morning, increasing wind speeds may affect your homeward journey."
And motorists on the A9 were earlier being warned that the northbound carriageway was closed a few miles north of Pitlochry after lorries got stuck. Traffic Scotland now says the road is open again but only passable with care.
