Royal memento marks Nairn couple’s 60th anniversary

A Nairn couple have received a card from King Charles and Queen Camilla as part of their 60th wedding anniversary celebrations.

John and Christine Matheson, of MacRae Avenue, were visited by The Lord-Lieutenant for Nairnshire George Asher.

They were married in Alness Parish Church on July 18, 1964 by Rev Malcolm Laing, John - known to many as "The Prof" from Spinningdale, and Christine from Tain, met at a dance in the Strathpeffer Pavilion.

In 1970, they moved from their home in Bonar Bridge to Inverness, and then to Nairn in 1977 where John worked as an ambulance technician and was involved with Inverness Hospital Radio and Moray Firth Radio. Christine was a nurse for many years.

The couple have three children, five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
