BUS services in Inverness are likely to face severe disruption when roadworks get underway on General Booth Road next week, Stagecoach has warned.

The works, which get underway on Tuesday, will see contractors resurface the busy route in the west of the city between Charelston Academy an the Leachkin Road junction.

Traffic lights and some bus stop closures are expected during the works, which are expected to last nearly three weeks.

Stagecoach is now advising passengers to allow extra time for their commute amid fears that these and other major roadworks in the heart of the city, at Ness Bridge, could clog the road network futher.

They are warning that the scale of road works and restrictions within the city will cause services crossing the city to be subject to severe delays - in particular services 8/8A/8C.

Steve Walker, Managing Director for Stagecoach North Scotland said: "We'd like to reassure customers we're doing everything possible to keep your bus running on time.

"A well as working with the local authority to try and reduce the impact of the road works to the bus network, we will be using spare buses to lessen the impact of any late running and delays.

"We would like to thank our passengers for their patience at this time and apologise for any inconvenience caused by the road works."
