The closure of a key road in Inverness looks set to cause knock-on disruption for motorists next week.

King Brude Road, which connects the busy A82 trunk road with the A862 Beauly road west of the Caledonian Canal, is set for five days of road resurfacing work.

The work, which will be carried out from 8am to 6pm daily, will begin on Monday (July 7) and run through to the end of Friday that week.

The closure will affect a stretch from the junction with King Brude Terrace to the junction with the A862 Beauly road.

A Highland Council spokesperson said: β€œThe closure is required in the interest of public safety to enable a contractor to carry out resurfacing works within the public road.”

King Brude Road is a key arterial route in the west of the city, diverting traffic away from Glenurquhart Road, Kenneth Street and Telford Street that would otherwise have to use those roads to cross the Caledonian Canal when heading to or from the Beauly direction.

Its closure is therefore likely to lead to heavier traffic on the A82 along Glenurquhart Road and Kenneth Street than normal - increasing the chance of knock-on congestion heading into the city centre.
