A82 south of Drumnadrochit to be closed overnight for four days for road resurfacing works
Works to resurface the A82 south of Drumnadrochit are set to start at the end of the month, with overnight closures in place.
The section of the road in Bunloit is set to be closed overnight between Monday, June 30 to Thursday, July 3 from 8pm to 6am, with amnisties expected due to the lack of a suitable diversion route.
This is part of a £175,000 investment by Transport Scotland, which will see an 860 metre stretch of carriageway resurfaced.
Euan Scott, BEAR Scotland’s North West representative said: “This surfacing project on the A82 will help address defects and greatly improve the road surface for motorists.
“The overnight closures are essential for the safety of operatives and road users due to the narrow width of the carriageway. We’ve taken steps to limit the overall impact of the project by carrying out the resurfacing work at night and providing amnesty periods for traffic to pass.
“Our teams will do all they can to complete the works as quickly and safely as possible, and we thank the local community and road users for their patience in advance while we complete these works. We encourage motorists to plan ahead before setting out by checking the Traffic Scotland website for up-to-date travel information.”
To protect roadworkers and motorists, this section of the A82 will be closed during working hours.
Work will be suspended at 9pm, 10pm, 11pm, midnight, 2am and 4am to allow waiting vehicles to be escorted through the area safely.
The A82 will be open as normal outwith working hours to keep disruption to a minimum, with a speed restriction of 30mph in place as traffic will be running on a temporary surface.
Access through the works site for emergency services will be maintained at all times.
