Repairs cause tailbacks at Longman roundabout

THERE are reports of tailbacks on approaches to Inverness's Longman roudabout this afternoon as repair work is carried out on traffic lights there.

The lights were due to be repaired yesterday following an electrical fault on Sunday, but work had to be delayed following a one-vehicle accident that saw a van collide with a light pole early on Monday morning.

It started this afternoon but now BEAR Scotland, who look after the country's trunk roads, have said it won't actually be completed until tomorrow.

said: “The traffic signals at A9/A82 Longman Roundabout developed a power fault on Sunday. A spokeswoman

(Monday) morning peak. “We erected signs to warn drivers that the roundabout was operating without signals and programmed the specialist repair to be carried out after yesterday’s

“In a separate incident, a road traffic collision occurred around 7am yesterday morning in which a vehicle collided with the non-operational traffic signals, damaging them further.

“Our emergency teams again attended the scene - isolating the electrics and removing debris.

“The further damage meant that the original planned repair to the signals could not be undertaken yesterday."

They added: "The full repair is expected to be complete tomorrow and the traffic signals reinstated as soon as it is safe to do so, with our teams continuing to monitor the area for any issues."
