Registrations welcome as Wheels of Nairn gears up for September return
Vehicle owners in and around Nairnshire can now register their motors for a dedicated annual show set to run in September.
Wheels of Nairn will be back to the Links on September 21, and already 150 vehicles have registered for the modern and classic vehicle show
The fourth edition of the event, run by Nairn Connects BID, is expected to attract up to 300 different vehicles.
Lucy Harding, Nairn Connects BID manager, said they are delighted with the response but are encouraging more entries to come forward.
She said: “Within 24 hours of launching the registration process for Wheels of Nairn we had in over 70 entries. Year on year it has grown in popularity, and it looks as though 2024 will be no different.
“We have a wonderful team of local volunteers who help us from the planning stages, right through to the day itself. It’s a big event, but one which is worth it for the town.”
She added: “We already know that some of the accommodation providers have received bookings from people attending the event and last year, we got great feedback from a number of the restaurants who had reservations from people who had entered their vehicles.
“Looking at the entries so far, we have people coming from all over Scotland, so it just shows that this event is helping to drive footfall and tourism to our town.”
The event sponsored by Nairn Car Sales boasts 17 different vehicle categories.
This year new classes include campervans and 4x4s, tractors and agricultural vehicles and rally and competition vehicles.
Dean Clark of Nairn Car Sales, which he runs with his father Hamish, said they were delighted to be involved again.
“This is a great event for Nairn and we are very happy to be involved once again,” he said.
“West End Garage which we also operate was the original sponsor back in 2019 when the event first took place, then we launched Nairn Car Sales which is the car sales sector of the business, so we decided to put that name to it. It’s a great fit for us and it’s such a pleasure to see so many amazing vehicles and owners travelling to take part in what is always a great day out.”
Each of the 17 different categories can be sponsored in the programme, with bespoke packages available.
Ms Harding added: “Each year we try to add a different offering to Wheels of Nairn and there are different opportunities for people to promote their business. We are so pleased to be working with Nairn Car Sales again and Makes By Megs who have returned as our food and drink partner for the entrants. However, there are lots of other ways people can get involved. All of the details are on the Nairn Connects website.”
