Re-advertised bungalows plan near Caledonian Canal in Inverness reveals reduced numbers
A planned housing development on a greenfield site near the Caledonian Canal in Inverness has been readvertised to include fewer homes.
The original plan was to build 10 two-bedroom bungalows on the site off St Valery Park in Dalneigh.
But the proposal by Highland Council now is to build eight two-bedroom houses.

After the original application was submitted in February, several nearby residents raised objections including the loss of “vital” green space for children’s play and enjoyment of people.
Other concerns included the impact on local wildlife such as deer, otters, pine martins and badgers, the increase in traffic and the existing lack of services in the neighbourhood.
The council’s transport planning team was also concerned the proposed road layout did not provide sufficient visibility of the single-track section when approaching from the north which could cause difficulties for two large vehicles wanting to pass.
It recommended the junction between the new development access and St Valery Park be moved north to allow space for a section of straight twin-track road before the single-track section.
It said an updated road layout drawing addressing these issues should be provided to the council for consideration before any decision was taken to approve the application.
It also recommended a suitably-worded condition be attached to any planning permission for the provision of an inspection and maintenance document for the drainage system.
