Rare whiskies from Inverness three ‘lost distilleries’ up for grabs at auction in support of Highland Hospice
Whisky collectors are in for a treat as a set of whiskies from three Inverness lost distilleries are up for auction - and for a good cause.
A silent auction via Whisky Hammer in support of Highland Hospice is open - with the lot being a trio of single malts from Glen Mhor Distillery, Millburn Distillery and Glen Albyn Distillery bottled by Gordon & Macphail.
This extremely rare trio of whiskies is part of the fundraising effort for the Kingsmills Hotel’s Sunflower Ball, which is being held to raise funds for us on Saturday (November 16).
Stephen Rankin, director of prestige at Gordon & Macphail, said: “This release provides a very special opportunity to purchase a special part of Inverness and Scotland’s liquid history.
“All of these distilleries were closed in the 1980s, making these whiskies incredibly rare - there has not been a Millburn release since 2015, and Glen Mhor and Glen Albyn are almost as scarce and incredibly sought after when they do appear.
The whiskies, bottled for Highland Hospice to mark the charity’s 35th anniversary, are bottled at cask strength and only five sets were donated and will ever be released for sale.
The charity have released one so far - raising £10,000 - and this auction sees the second set being offered.
Online bidding starts at a minimum of £10,000 for the set and will close on Wednesday (November 13) morning.
