An Inverness man has been jailed for seven years after being sentenced for six charges – including three rapes, one indecent assault, one assault to injury and an assault.

John Keeney Chinskie (41), of HMP Inverness, was sentenced yesterday at Aberdeen High Court where he was given a seven year custodial sentence with a three-year extended sentence upon his release.

He was also sentenced to 12 months imprisonment for the assault charges, to run alongside the longer sentence.

Both sentences were backdated to May 2019.

The offences took place between 2010 and 2017 in the Inverness, Nairn, Aviemore and Carnoustie areas.

Speaking after sentencing Detective Sergeant Gordon Patullo described Chinskie as a dangerous individual who had subjected his two female victims to a barrage of serious violent and sexual abuse.

He praised the courage of the two women who came forward to provide vital information which had resulted in his imprisonment.

And he added: "His conviction and sentencing for these offences sends a clear message that we will always investigate reports and that time is no bar to our investigations."
