Rainbow Singers group in Inverness celebrates 10th anniversary

Members of an inspirational Inverness singing group were given the red carpet treatment at a celebration dinner.

The Rainbow Singers, whose 50 members aged between 19 and 70 have learning disabilites, meet weekly at Merkinch Community Centre and have also performed in fundraising concerts for charity.

It is run by Elsie Normington who began the group thanks to the persistence of Margaret McKenzie, an adult with learning disabilites.

It provides a meaningful social and creative opportunity for member to meet their friends.

Guests at the dinner, which took place at the centre, included Inverness MP Drew Hendry, Inverness Central councillor Bet McAllister and NHS Highland chief executive Ian Stewart.
