THE Highland Mainline has reopened between Inverness and Aviemore following earlier flooding, ScotRail has confirmed.

All services were suspended on the line between the city and strath town this morning after last night's torrential rain flooded the track near Carrbridge.

But shortly after 12.30pm ScotRail announced that the line had reopened.

Passengers were warned to expect continued disruption, however, as the line returns to normal.

ScotRail confirmed that "services will still be subject to delays and alterations".

It added: "Replacement buses will remain in place to supplement services during the restoration of the train service."
