Rail and road disruption following snow, rain and gales
TRAVELLERS heading south out of Inverness were facing disruption on both road and rail this morning.
Heavy overnight snow in the Cairngorms has forced the closure of the A9 at the Drumochter Pass, south of Dalwhinnie.
And rail passengers were also being hit by delays, with no Scotrail services currently running between Inverness and Perth due to the heavy snowfall.
In an update at 5.30am Scotrail said it would review the suspension of services on the line at 9am. Visit www.scotrail.co.uk for the latest updates.
However, although Scotrail services on the route are currently suspended the 7.55am train from Inverness to London Kings Cross is expected to depart as normal.
Elsewhere on the network, there are also no services on the Inverness-Kyle of Lochalsh line beyond Dingwall. This closure, which was announced a day in advance, came into force at 6pm last night and will remain in place until 6pm this evening.
Network Rail said the closure of the track was to allow staff to inspect the line for damage during today's expected stormy weather. Some bus replacement services from Inverness to Kyle are in operation while the closure is in place.
Meanwhile, Sepa has issued a flood alert for the Great Glen and Easter Ross after much of the area's low lying snow began to melt overnight.

Small scale electricity supply cuts have also been reported in the local area, with several postcodes on either side of Loch Ness reporting loss of power overnight.
