Raigmore Hospital in Inverness catering department reduces plastic
Raigmore Hospital’s catering department has stepped up its commitment to improving and keeping the Highlands beautiful by reducing the plastic cutlery in its retail outlets.
The department, which runs the main hospital dining room, the two hospital coffee bars and the café at the Centre for Health Science, has now stopped making plastic, disposable cutlery available.
Crawford Howat of NHS Highland said: “Like many we are looking at what we can do to reduce our carbon footprint and do our bit for the environment.
“As well as ditching the plastic cutlery we now have a number of recycling bins across the sites which will hopefully make it easier for people to recycle items.
“It’s a small step but we hope it’s one that people welcome and embrace.”
