The Queensgate entrance of Victorian Market has reopened after drainage issues, forced it to close on Tuesday.

A statement from Highland Council said: "A temporary solution to drainage issues being experienced at the Queensgate entrance of the Victorian Market, which forced a short period of closure, has held firm and the entrance has been reopened.

"The longer term plan is to carry out works to permanently fix the issue as soon as possible in January. That decision is being made in order to minimise impact to retailers and Christmas trade."

Further investigation work was undertaken last night, involving Scottish Water and Highland Council's own contractor.

The Inverness Courier reported previously that continuing drainage issues in Queensgate has kept Carr Gomm charity shop to close for several months.
