AN Inverness secondary school has highlighted concerns raised by nearby residents about a small number of pupils allegedly acting in “an inappropriate and unlawful manner”.

Millburn Academy is now hoping to improve community relationships with residents who are understood to be considering installing CCTV and warning they will contact the police if there are further issues.

It highlighted the issue on social media but did not wish to comment further.

A Highland Council spokesman said: “Residents have raised concerns about a small number of pupils who are allegedly acting in an inappropriate and unlawful manner around premises close to the school.

“The school is liaising with local residents to improve community relationships and with its pupils to develop them into responsible citizens.”

He added anyone with concerns about illegal activity should contact police.

Millburn councillor Isabelle MacKenzie said the alleged behaviour had not happened in the school grounds where CCTV cameras are in place and she praised the school for taking action.

“Schools should be commended when they try to improve the behaviour and conduct among children,” she said. “It is a warning to those pupils acting in an antisocial way.”
