A LEADING city pub is getting set to reach out to take its brand beyond Inverness – if it can drum up support from local fans.

MacGregor’s Bar in Inverness’s Academy Street opened on St Andrew’s Day in 2017, supported in part by crowdfunding from 142 people.

With its declared mission to showcase the best Scotland has to offer in terms of food, drink and music proving hugely popular with visitors and locals alike, owners have now revealed plans to raise £500,000 for at least two more premises as they also suggested that, long term, they may even be thinking beyond Scotland.

The bar is owned by musician Bruce MacGregor – a founder member of the hugely successful band Blazin’ Fiddles – and his wife Jo de Sylva.

Mr MacGregor said of the latest crowdfunding idea, which is yet to be officially launched: “It’s a chance for people to become involved not just from a financial perspective, but also to ‘own’ a little bit of Scotland. It’s about becoming part of the MacGregor family.”
