A CROWDFUNDING campaign has been launched to help fund a pride parade through Inverness this summer.

Organisers of the Proud Ness event, celebrating gender and sexual diversity, are hoping to raise £3000 towards the cost of decorations, music and entertainment.

The march through the city centre on July 21 will be rounded off with live music, stalls and a funfair at Bught Park.

Proud Ness organiser Jess Taylor said some of the £3000 would be spent on clothing and merchandise which would be sold to raise money for a winter Proud Ness event in February.

She said: “We do not make any money from the event.

“Highland Council is looking after the food vendors and we are not charging our stall holders, of which there will be around 30.

“We are just trying to make sure that this event can be as entertaining as possible.”

The parade will coincide with the Inverness Highland Games and Gala weekend.
