A shoplifter who was arrested on warrant as several cases were outstanding decided to tender guilty pleas to get her backlog cleared.

Chloe McEwan, of Diriebught Court, Inverness appeared from custody at Inverness Sheriff Court.

As the 37-year-old stood in the dock, Sheriff Eilidh Macdonald commented: "She doesn't look well. I am considering a drug treatment and testing order."

McEwan admitted stealing food, household items, beauty products all from the Co-op in Nairn between May 18 and 28.

She also pleaded guilty to an earlier charge of stealing alcohol from Tesco, Dores Road, in Inverness on April 10, theft of electrical items, clothing and toiletries from Asda on November 24 and failing to appear for a court hearing at Inverness.

McEwan will be assessed for the order and was released on bail to re-appear on February 6.
